Technical Specification – Cobble Systems Pavers with Integrated Nylon Grid Backing and
Epoxy Grout

A. MATERIALS

  1. The contractor shall furnish and install Cobble Systems pavers as specified. The cobble paver design shall be Straight, Fan, Fan Start/End, Quarter Circle or Half Circle as manufactured by Cobble Systems, Inc. 100 W. Livingston Street, Orlando, FL, 32801. The pavers shall be Charcoal, Rustic Red, Sand or Terracotta color, granite and cement mix according to design #MH 730. Integral grid backing design of nylon and rubber according to design #NL Pi 452. Epoxy grout # US P3227.

B. MATERIALS

  1. A 6" base course of soil cement or paving fines, graded for large stones.

  2. Cobble Systems paver Mats: concrete and granite mold designed mats rising from a strong open grid integral to the stones. Units will be shipped pre assembled and on a pallet. Standard colors are Charcoal, Rustic Red, Sand or Terracotta.

  3. Cobble Systems Epoxy Grout: a user friendly, water cleanable (soap and water), 100% solids epoxy grout. Used for grouting Cobble Systems patented stone mats. It is supplied in prepackaged kits containing resin, hardener, and special silica sand.

C. INSTALLATION

  1. Inspection: Examine subgrade and base course installed conditions. Do not start Cobbles System installation until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. Check for poor drainage, improperly compacted trenches, debris, and improper gradients. Installation constitutes acceptance of existing conditions and responsibility for satisfactory performance. If existing conditions are found unsatisfactory, contact Project Manager for resolution.

  2. Place base course of soil cement or paving fines over prepared subbase compacting base course for a level foundation.

  3. Install the Cobble Systems mats by placing stones up. Borders should be installed first to insure proper design layout. To install continuous mats remove half stones at ends using pruning type sheers (Fiskar's Soft Grip Multi-Snip # 7925). Stones should be cut using a stone splitter. Stones should be compacted using a vibrating plate and compacting the bottom of the stones at least 3/8" into the subbase. Once design is fully installed clean off excess debris and dirt with an air blower. Joints should be free of leaves and debris. Base shall be free of standing water. Mix epoxy with mixing machine following manufacturer's instructions for proper mixing. In small sections use a squeegee (Etore #61018-24) to work grout between stones. This squeegee process will remove the majority of the grout off the stones. To clean any remaining grout from stones allow minimal curing (time duration based on climate conditions) then sweep with push broom (Harper Brush # 7224a ).
